CMM Enhancements
As a complement to the Certified Municipal Manager (CMM) designation, the Ontario Municipal Management Institute has partnered with provincial associations to enhance the CMM with profession-specific certifications. Our partner associations develop the evaluation criteria for their specific enhancement; this makes the enhancements a valuable career development tool within those professions. Each accreditation partner offers two to three enhancement opportunities, providing a wide range of complementary, profession-specific recognition, available across the local government sector.

Municipal Court Managers’ Association of Ontario (MCMA)
The mission of the MCMA is to “Provide excellence in the delivery of court administration services” for the Provincial Offences Act courts across Ontario. Members are actively engaged in promoting best and proven practices and many individuals contribute their time and expertise on various committees. The Board of Directors is representative of court managers from each of the seven judicial regions of the Province.

Economic Developers’ Council of Ontario (EDCO)
EDCO is an independent, non-profit, incorporated association of persons engaged in economic development. The Council was organized in 1957 and incorporated in 1962 as the Ontario Industrial Developers Council Inc. In 1991, the Council changed its name to the Economic Developers Council of Ontario Incorporated. Vision: “Enhance and develop an economically viable and environmentally responsible Ontario.”

Ontario Association of Paramedic Chiefs (OAPC)
The Association began in 1998 when municipal representatives recognized the need to meet as a group and develop common strategies for optimizing the transition to municipal control of ambulance service. Formalized as a non-profit corporation in 2002, it was previously known as AMEMSO (the Association of Municipal Emergency Medical Services of Ontario). Today, forty-six member municipalities and designated delivery agents, as well as nine contract ambulance providers, are represented. OAPC is the primary link providing municipal EMS provider advice and recommendations to the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO), and the Land Ambulance Implementation Steering Committee (LAISC).

Ontario Association of Emergency Managers (OAEM)
The Association was created with a mandate to: promote, support and enhance the profession of emergency management; become the organization that shapes the emergency management practice; encourage the growth and expansion of the association; continue improving the level of service offered to our members; foster a greater recognition of the field of emergency management as a profession.

Ontario Municipal Fire Prevention Officers Association (OMFPOA)
With over 600 members from over 200 different fire departments and fire service-related companies throughout the province of Ontario, the association plays a key role in promoting fire prevention and fire safety education initiatives on both provincial and federal levels.

Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs (OAFC)
The Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs (OAFC) is the voice of the fire service, and represents the chief fire officers of the 457 municipal fire departments in the Province of Ontario. These chief officers are ultimately responsible, by statute, for the management and delivery of fire, rescue, and emergency response to the 13 million residents of Ontario. The OAFC is the trusted advisor to the provincial government and key stakeholders in regards to community and fire fighter safety. Our mission is to lead innovation and excellence in public and life safety. To achieve this, we provide a recognized, authoritative voice for all matters relating to the management and delivery of fire and emergency services in the province. In addition, we work cooperatively with the provincial government, key stakeholders, and other organizations to promote excellence and innovation in the areas of education, legislation and fire services.

Ontario Association of Fire Training Officers (OAFTO)
The Municipal Fire Departments Instructors’ Association was created December 4, 1961, to develop and provide: a standard method and scope of firefighter training, a closer liaison between departments, and as a medium for exchange of instructional methods, ideas, and experiences. The OAFTO is a strong advocate of firefighter training programs, a communications network, and the source of new and innovative ideas. Over the years, the Association has changed its name, but the basic mandate has held firm: “help the fire service grow stronger, more efficient and better.”

Ontario Municipal Human Resources Association (OMHRA)
Established in 1963, an organization of people primarily engaged in HR management within municipalities, local public sector boards and commissions, with a mandate to: provide leadership and direction on HR management issues in Ontario; provide a medium for communication and exchange of information; promote and further the education and enhance the expertise of persons engaged in HR management; promote the interests of the Association with all levels of government and other organizations; review and make representations with respect to any government legislation, policies or programs which affect persons engaged in the field of public sector HR management.

Institute of Housing Management (IHM)
The Institute of Housing Management (IHM) is a professional association and incorporated educational body that has been dedicated to promoting and enhancing skills and knowledge of individuals in the property management industry for over 35 years. IHM is a symbol of integrity and professionalism in the private, public and municipal administrative property management sectors. We are the professional association focused on education and accreditation for anyone that manages residential housing or property assets.

Municipal Law Enforcement Officers’ Association (MLEOA)
The Municipal Law Enforcement Officers’ Association is a non-profit professional Association representing Municipal Law Enforcement Officers throughout the Province of Ontario. It was first established in 1979. In 1985 it was incorporated as a non-profit organization. The Municipal Law Enforcement Officers’ Association represents over 250 municipalities and 1500 individual officers throughout the Province of Ontario and abroad. This broad coverage provides members with an interesting diversity of experiences to draw upon.

Ontario Good Roads Association (OGRA)
Established in 1894 to advocate for better roads in Ontario in an era when most provincial investment in transportation was aimed at expanding the railway network, OGRA’s primary activities now encompass advocacy, technical services and education. The association represents municipal infrastructure interests through 5 business objectives:
- To advocate for sustainable funding for municipal infrastructure
- To advocate the collective interests of our members through policy analysis, legislative review, and consultation
- To provide affordable and accessible education and training services
- To promote leadership with regard to infrastructure asset management
- To develop plans, programs and partnerships for the delivery of services that meet the needs of our members
OGRA’s education services have a long and storied history stretching back to 1901 when the “Good Roads Train” rumbled across eastern Ontario to teach the locals proper road building techniques. Our education program remains vibrant, with more than 70 training events offered annually, and more than 3000 students attending each year.

Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP)
The OACP has more than 1,200 members and represents the RCMP, the OPP, First Nations and Municipal Police Services. Members are divided into six categories: Active, Honorary, Life, Associate, Associate Retired and Affiliate. The Association’s members maintain a global perspective by going beyond provincial issues to address national and international concerns.

Ontario Association of Property Standards Officers (OAPSO)
Founded in 1975 to provide training for all municipal personnel engaged in the administration or the enforcement of legislation governing the maintenance, occupancy, repair and improvement of property and the environment. The Association conducts annual seminars and regional conferences at various locations throughout Ontario. These training sessions afford the membership the opportunity to upgrade their knowledge of modern building techniques and revised or new legislation. On June 25, 1992, the Provincial Government, in recognition of the continuing endeavours of OAPSO to educate and train its membership, passed private legislation. Those members who qualify for certification are permitted to use the designation of C.P.S.O., Certified Property Standards Officer.

Ontario Association of College & University Security Administrators (OACUSA)
On May 8, 2002 the First Annual General Meeting of the Ontario Association of College and University Security Administrators was held. Founding members included Mark Tinlin, University of Western Ontario; Howard Pearce, Queens University; Yvon McNicol, University of Ottawa; Tony Morgan, Algonquin College and Al MacKenzie, University of Waterloo. As with any new organization, it was not clear sailing getting OACUSA started. There were a few who expressed concerns about formalizing a group and debated whether or not colleges should be included. However, perseverance paid off. As the group started working through issues and developing the constitution, other institutions joined in including York University, University of Windsor, Brock University, Laurentian University, University of Toronto, Sheridan College and Seneca College. The mission statement was, “The Ontario Association of College and University Security Administrators strives to promote a safe secure learning and working environment and to enhance the safety of person and security of property at Ontario Colleges and Universities. The Association will provide a forum for communication, cooperation and information exchange on all matters related to community safety and security on member campuses.” Through the years, OACUSA has continued to grow. Today there are 112 Institutional and Associate members representing 38 Ontario colleges and universities. An annual conferences is hosted at member institutions in the spring each year. The conference offers our members an opportunity to share their knowledge, network with one another and hear guest speakers on current and relevant topics.

Ontario Building Officials Association
Our Mission, To support the construction of safer, more sustainable and accessible building in Ontario. we do this by delivering training and certification to Building Officials, promoting uniform code application, working with industry partners, providing a voice to policymakers, and advancing the Building Official profession.
Our Commitment, We are a self-governing, not-for-profit organization committed to establishing and maintaining a high professional standard in the administration of the building code.
